MANCHESTER, UNITED KINGDOM, May 13, 2012 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- Van drivers have voted the classic BLT as their favourite sandwich ahead of British Sandwich Week, according to a recent survey carried out by Swinton, the UK's leading van insurance broker.
With van drivers being one of the highest sandwich consumers in Britain, an online survey of 1,000 customers completed by the online commercial van insurance company, found that 30% of van drivers preferred the BLT to any other British classics.
The poll also found that other British favourites included the classic ham and cheese butty, which came closely behind the BLT with 25% of the votes. The Ploughman's lunch ranked bottom of the Swinton van driver sandwich charts, with a mere 3% of van drivers voting for it.
According to the survey the best British sandwiches are:
1. BLT (30%) 2. Ham and Cheese (25%) 3. Coronation Chicken (20%) 4. Corned Beef (12%) 5. Tuna and Sweetcorn (10%) 6. Ploughman's Lunch (3%)
Phil Moss, Commercial Vehicle Manager at Swinton said, "British Sandwich week is a great opportunity for sandwich lovers to celebrate all that they love about their favourite UK classics. It's interesting to see that such traditional sandwiches have topped the charts with the majority of van drivers choosing the BLT as their favourite. We expect it to stay as the most loved sandwich for years to come."
