CMA signs insurance fellowship contract - Oman Daily Observer

MUSCAT — Capital Market Authority (CMA) signed a contract with Bahrain Institute for Banking and Financial Studies to qualify Omanis to get the Fellowship Certificate in Insurance (ACII). The contract is part of the plans and training programmes designed to train and qualify the Omani youth to work in insurance sector, as well as to enable them and improve their position in this sector, in addition to the five-year plan prepared by CMA to develop the Omanisation percentages in the administrative and technical levels in the insurance companies.

The programme aims at deepening the foundations and principles underlying the insurance industry and clarifying concepts relating to posts and benefits offered by the sector. The program also aims at publicising the available insurance products and the mechanism for interacting with them under the conditions, technical controls and legal frameworks and requirements for each product. The programme will also address the issues of ethics in neighbouring markets and its success in attracting customers and upgrading the performance of insurance companies.

Meanwhile, CMA will take part at the 37th Annual Conference of the International Organisation of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) scheduled to be held in Beijing from May 13 to 17. The participation of the Authority in the meeting comes in a bid to review the latest legislative and technical developments made by the countries of the world in the field of regularising the capital market, especially in light of the rapid developments witnessed by the world market. — ONA
